Receiving the verification code by SMS is an essential step to use the platform. If you are having trouble receiving this message, don't worry, we've listed the most common causes and how to resolve them quickly.
Why am I not receiving the SMS verification code?
Sending the code by SMS is required in two steps:
- Account registration: to confirm your identity at the time of registration.
- Phone number verification on the listing: to validate the contact number displayed on your listing.
Without completing this verification, it is not possible to finish the registration or publish listings.
I didn't receive the SMS. What could be happening?
1. Incorrectly entered phone number: Make sure you entered the correct area code followed by the full number, without dashes, dots, or spaces.
2. Prepaid line with no credit or blocked: Prepaid SIM cards without a top-up or with expired credit may have their SMS reception suspended by the carrier.
✅ Solution: Check your balance and plan validity directly in your carrier's app.
3. Promotional messages blocked: If at some point you chose to block promotional messages with your carrier, automatic verification SMS may have been filtered along with them.
✅ Solution: Access your carrier's app and confirm that message reception is active.
4. SMS flagged as spam: Some carriers apply automatic filters that may hold legitimate verification messages.
✅ Solution: Check the blocked messages folder on your phone and, if necessary, contact your carrier to request the release.
5. Weak or unstable network signal: A weak network signal can prevent the SMS from reaching your phone.
✅ Solution: Move to an area with better coverage, or turn airplane mode on and off to force a network reconnection.
6. Faulty or incorrectly inserted SIM card: Sometimes the issue is not a block, the SIM card may simply be incorrectly inserted in the device.
✅ Solution: Turn off your phone, remove the SIM card, reinsert it carefully, and turn the phone back on.
7. Recent device change: If you recently switched phones, settings from your previous device may still be active that redirect or block SMS reception.
✅ Solution: Check the messaging settings on your new device and make sure SMS is set as the default method for receiving messages.
8. Messaging app with incompatible settings: Some advanced messaging app settings can interfere with receiving regular SMS messages.
✅ Solution: Check your messaging app settings and, if necessary, restore the default options.
What to do if the SMS still doesn't arrive?
- Wait a few minutes and request the code to be resent.
- Restart your phone and try again.
- Contact your carrier to check if there is any active block on your line.
